Use It or Lose

world-class WARM UP

OK, now that you have everything you need, let’s start warming up. We’ll keep it simple, just to get the blood moving.

You nod, excited to begin before I’d even demoed the first move. I smile because I love it!

First, we will do some arm circles for about 30 seconds, never too much, never enough to need rest. Always measured and steady. Your chest is tense, but opening up. I guide you through breathing into the movement.

Warming up the arms and shoulders

Let’s remember to breathe. Inhale as the arms go up, exhale as the arms go down. Think windmill, always producing air.

Now let’s warm up the forearms. Arms out. Hands to face, and turn our hands, then reverse that for 30 seconds. Inhale hands to face, exhale hands away.

Now let’s warm up the shoulders. Grab your band or stick. We’re going to hold both ends, arms as far apart as necessary. We want to bring the band overhead and behind us without bending our elbows. It’s ok if you cannot go all the way or to bend some, just do as much as you can for 30 seconds.”
